Re-Cap from Today

Hello!

First, I just want to tell you how great your questions and your curiosities are. I know you are on the right path because of your questions -- not your answers!

Second, on assessments, if you are having a hard time downloading the assessments, then email me. Also, try one or two of the assessments out in summer school if you can. If that is not possible, choose one and spend some time with it -- see if they make more sense. We will discuss these again in class.

Third, on the readings. Be prepared to use the "Teaching Disciplinary Literacy to Adolescents: Rethinking Content- Area Literacy" article in class tomorrow. Please read "STRIKING DIFFERENCES: THE IMPACT OF MODERATE AND HIGH TRAUMA ON READING ACHIEVEMENT" as well as ""Just plain reading": A survey of what makes students want to read in middle school classrooms" and think about what we learned about Snoopy. We will re-visit these concepts next, so please be prepared with these articles as well.

Finally, keep up the good work. I look forward to class tomorrow.

Anne
